If starting a new business is like piecing together a complex puzzle, then I've got to say, I'm really enjoying fitting these pieces together. This ride has been incredibly enriching so far, and I’m taking a page from various life experiences, spending most of last weekend being inspired by the spirit of the successful European Ryder Cup team.
Much like how the Ryder Cup team combines the unique skills of individual golfers to create a formidable force, my approach to business has been about synergizing different aspects. There’s the client management, the strategy, and of course, the delivery. Speaking of which, I’m proud to say that my commissioned work is already taking shape beautifully. Client feedback has been positive, and the hard work is paying off.
Early on, I had the privilege of planning a roadmap with Lawton Consulting. They generously shared their wealth of experience in navigating business terrains—treacherous and smooth. We tackled everything from the challenges that can come barreling down like a wayward golf ball to the essentials that just need to get done. You know, the unglamorous but necessary tasks that keep you on course. And also some time spent on thinking about what could be next with some embryonic ideas for future service and solution offers. And also some time spent on thinking about what could be next with some embryonic ideas for future service and solution offers. Thanks @Mark Lawton
With my commissioned work laying a solid foundation, it's now time to look beyond the fairway and scout for new business leads. In golfing terms, you've got to play the entire course, not just excel at the driving range. The market is filled with opportunities just waiting to be tapped. And that’s what my eyes are set on—crafting a strategy to expand my network and bring in new clients.
While I’m focusing on my game, it’s hard to ignore other success stories in the market that serve as quick jolts of inspiration. Take the recent introduction of the new active travel software product from Future Traffic Solutions at the Fleet and Mobility Live expo, for instance. Its successful launch is a nod to what can be achieved with the right mix of planning, perseverance, and execution. It gives the rest of us something to strive for. Well done @Nicolina Cooper
Alongside my work and ambitions, it's incredibly rewarding to be in a position to support friends and colleagues in the industry. Their journeys add layers to my own experience, and I'm more than happy to return the favour whenever possible. After all, business isn't a solo sport.
So here I am, weaving together this intricate mosaic of hard work, ambition, collaboration, and market inspiration. Each piece, from the commissioned work that’s already making waves to the strategies for new leads and the wisdom from industry stalwarts like Lawton Consulting, adds unique colour and texture to my business tapestry. It’s a diverse, vibrant mix where each element holds its own but contributes to a grander scheme.
What excites me most is the image that's beginning to emerge—a business that not only thrives on individual victories but revels in collective success. Like a well-played round of golf, it’s not just about the tee-off or the final putt; it’s about every strategic move and calculated risk in between.
And just like that, my mosaic isn’t just a collection of tiles. It’s a vivid, evolving picture of what can be achieved when you bring together the right pieces. It's not complete yet, but boy, it’s getting there, and I can't wait to see the finished masterpiece.
